PDC & GCC 2023 CANCELLED

The PDC & GCC race organizing committees have decided to cancel events in 2023: There will be no Patrouille des Cèdres or Grande Coulée Challenge in 2023.

The inherent situation the country finds itself in does not allow us to go ahead as previously planned… The PDC and GCC organizing committees are sorry for this change – and happy to see others take up the challenge by organizing 2023 backcountry skiing events in the Cedars and Sannine. Best of luck to all and fingers crossed for better times soon!

BACKCOUNTRY SKIERS (randonnée) are invited to take part in the race organized by the Lebanese army in the Cedars on March 19, 2023. Good luck to all!

The first Grande Coulée Challenge...

... took place on Sunday March 8, 2020 on Mount Sannine’s pristine and frozen snow bathed in glorious sunshine. In its maiden edition, more than 200 winter sports enthusiasts from Lebanon, the Lebanese armed forces as well as participants from eight nations took part in one of three tracks. A 1,000m ascent & descent backcountry ski race, a snowshoe race and a special snowshoe outing honoring women on International Women’s Day, all in the shadow of the iconic Grande Coulée (a.k.a. Bahsa) in the majestic Sannine Mountain range.

Next edition scheduled for March 2024. Inchalla!

As the little sister of the PdC (Patrouille des Cedres), itself the younger and smaller version of the legendary Swiss PdG (Patrouille des Glaciers), the GCC will be held annually on the first Sunday of the month of March.
Race director Maxime Chaya, the GCC organizing committee, the Scouts du Liban, the Lebanese Red Cross along with the Baskinta Municipality and its inhabitants invite you to take part in the next edition scheduled for Sunday March 6, 2022. Mark your calendars and stay tuned!
